Khotang, Oct 11 : With the election to the House of Representatives announced for coming March 5, new voter registration and updating of the voter list has increased in Khotang.
The Election Commission has started registering new voters and updating the voter list simultaneously across the country from September 25, which will continue until November 15.
Chief of the District Election Office, Khotang, Rabin Magar shared that around 40 people are arriving every day to register and update their names in the voter list. “The office is open from 8:00 am to 6:00 pm daily except on public holidays for new voters,” he said. Updating of the voters list can also be done online.
The Election Commission has made arrangements for Nepali citizens who want to register their names in the voter list to do it from any district and province office across the country. They can register online and go to the respective office for biometrics.
Most of the citizens who are coming to register their names for the first time are in the age group of 16 to 25 years. The number of voters who will complete 18 years of age in the district with two municipalities and eight rural municipalities has reached 144,429 by the deadline for voter registration, shared Sanjeev Khadka, head of the voter registration section of the District Election Office, Khotang .
