By TRN Online, Kathmandu, Oct 10: Coordinator of the CPN (Maoist Center) general convention organizing committee Pushpa Kamal Dahal 'Prachanda' has called for an all-party political consensus to create a conducive environment for election.
At a
'Dialogue with Editor' programme organized today by Press Center Nepal,
Prachanda, also former Prime Minister, viewed that all political parties and
civil society should work together to make success the election to House of
Representatives (HoR) scheduled for March 5, 2026.
"I
appeal to all political parties as well as civil society and others,
nationalist and democratic forces, for a national consensus to ensure that the
election is held in time and that sovereignty and national independence is
safeguarded," said coordinator Prachanda.
Terming the Gen Z movement a type of revolt, the Maoist Center coordinator, however, suspected foreign meddling in the destruction of September 9.
"A type
of revolt has occurred and the loss is also historic. However, ego, the sense
of my way is highway of those who were ruling at that particular time has not
subsided. This situation of being happy with one's own ego on their part is
unfortunate for the country," he said.
The former
Prime Minister viewed that the country was undergoing historically unprecedented
pressure on sovereignty and national independence. "At this time, we have a
historical necessity for democratic, nationalist forces to work together by
drawing common conclusion."
All should
get united to make the scheduled election a success, he stressed.
"Our focus at present is on making the announced election a success and creating a conducive environment for the same. Secondly, we will embrace the spirit of Gen Z and pave way for new leadership in the party," he said.
Prachanda
pointed at the need to review constitution and make necessary amendments after
the HoR election. "We need national consensus to move forward in a new way
as it is proved that the constitution cannot work in the existing
situation."
Responding
to the queries of the editors, the Maoist Center coordinator said that the then
care taker Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli had recommended in writing to President
Ramchandra Paudel to appoint Sushila Karki to the post of Prime Minister.
"Oli as care taker PM recommended in writing to President Paudel to
appoint Sushila Karki as PM. We all are witness to that. Therefore, Oli has no
point in terming present government as that of Haha-huhu."
