Youth dies due to altitude sickness

Gorkha, Oct 10: A youth has died due to altitude sickness while on the way to Larke under the Manaslu trail.     

Rajkumar Shrestha, Deputy Superintendent of Police at the District Police Office, said that 23-year-old Rohan Prajapati of Madhyapur Municipality, Bhaktapur, died due to altitude sickness on Thursday afternoon.     

Prajapati, along with his companions, reached Dharmashala in Chumnubri Rural Municipality-1, northern Gorkha, on Thursday while heading to Larke via the Manaslu trail.     

“Prajaapati died while crossing the Larke pass. Four others have descended towards Manang,” he said. DSP Shrestha stated that Prajaapati's body has been brought to Samagaun and preparations are underway to send it to Kathmandu by helicopter.     

Person found dead in Jhapa     

In another incident, a male's body was found today in a drainage canal in Damak Municipality-7, Jhapa district in Koshi province.     

Locals discovered the body in a water drainage channel meant for livestock near an animal shed, according to the Damak Area Police Office.     

Superintendent of Police Rajan Limbu at the District Police Office said the deceased appears to be around 55 years old, but his identity has yet to be confirmed.     

Police stated that the man had an injury on his right cheek, likely caused by a sharp weapon. Further investigation into the incident is underway.(RSS)
