Kathmandu, Oct 9: The Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) has registered a case against 13 individuals including former Vice Chancellor of Rapti Academy of Health Sciences (RAHS), Prof Dr Sangeeta Singh Bhandari and former acting Registrar Jhankar Lamichhane.
CIAA's spokesperson Rajendra Kumar Paudel said that the CIAA registered the case against the then VC Bhandari over the procurement of substandard quality of MRI machine.
The case was registered today acting on the complaint regarding financial irregularities on the procurement of the machine.
The CIAA filed a charge sheet against Bhandari, accusing her of misappropriating Rs 120 million 760 thousand 945.
Similarly, in the same case, the Academy's the then acting registrar Lamichhane; the then finance manager Kailash Prasad Dev; biomedical engineer Sharad Bhandari; Kathmandu-based biomedical engineer Amit Kumar Chaudhary; and the Academy's deputy finance manager Nitin Kurmi also face charges.
Additionally, charges have been filed against section officers Chhaya DC and Shriram Chaudhary; Hiralal Bhandari; the then civil engineer Madan Bhandari; the then senior assistant Anju Sharma; the then biomedical engineer Sujata Bhattarai; Lumbini Healthcare Pvt. Ltd.; and the company’s chairperson, Posta Raj Gyawali. The CIAA has claimed the recovery of Rs 120,760,946 from them.(RSS)
