Kanchanpur, Oct 9: A total of 91 families residing in Krishnapur Municipality-3, Kanchanpur, for the past 50 years are still struggling to claim ownership of the land they have been living on.

Although they were issued with 'white' land ownership certificates by the then Landless Problem Resolution Commission, the documents have not received legal recognition.

As a result, they are unable to use the land as collateral to obtain bank loans, explore business and entrepreneurial opportunities, or access government subsidies and other benefits.

Local resident Gangaram Chaudhary said that the Landless Commission provided them with land registration certificates in 2067 BS, but those documents are still not legally valid.

It is reported that the families occupy a total of around 90 hectares of land and have paid approximately Rs 1.3 million in revenue so far.

Despite repeatedly approaching local authorities to resolve the issue, their pleas remain unaddressed to this day. (RSS)
