Flood displaced people start returning homes

File Photo: Bhotraj Rai/TRN Around 1,500 families have been displaced after the flooded Saptakoshi River entered human settlements by breaking the embankment of Dumribot in Belaka Municipality-8 in Udayapur.

Udayapur (Gaighat), Oct 6: Locals of Belaka municipality in Udayapur district, who were displaced due to the flood, have started returning to their homes after the water level in the Koshi river decreased.     

The security personnel had rescued 128 people of Belaka municipality-8, 2 and 3 and shifted them to safer places after the Koshi river reached the danger level.     

Chief District Officer Prem Prasad Luintel shared that the flood victims have started returning to their homes after life here started turning to normal.     

People of the Koshi Tappu area of Belaka who were at risk of flood were kept at their relatives and the city hall of Belaka municipality.     

Deputy-Mayor of the municipality, Jira Rai, mentioned that now, there is no risk of flood as the water level of the Koshi river has decreased. (RSS)
