Kathmandu, Oct. 6: Nepali community organizations based in Germany have pledged collective support for Nepal’s planned reconstruction efforts following the devastation of historic structures, including the Singha Durbar complex, during the GenZ protest early this month.
In a special online meeting hosted by Nepali Samaj Germany on September 23, Saturday, representatives of several organizations discussed the initiative.
The meeting was also attended by the Ambassador of Nepal to Germany by Dr. ShailRupakheti.
Participants included representatives and office bearers from Himalayan Pariwar, Nepali Roots, Nepali Samaj, NFC Stuttgart, NRNA Germany, Progressive Nepalese Youth Darmstadt, Raising Nepal, and Trishuli New Generation.
The meeting centered on Nepal government’s establishment of a dedicated fund for the reconstruction.
The meetingdecided that Nepali diaspora in Germany will mobilise contributions, with collected funds to be transmitted to the government of Nepal through the Embassy of Nepal in Berlin.
To oversee the process, a Coordination Committee comprising representatives from all participating organizations has been formed.
Highlighting that the government had already announced relief for those killed and injured in the September 8 and 9 disaster, participants stressed the need for additional support to rebuild the destroyed structures.
The organizations jointly appealed to all Nepalis and friends of Nepal in Germany to come forward and contribute to thenoble mission.
