Jeep accident in India: Four of Salyan die

By Prateek Ichchhuk Sharma, Salyan, Sept.16: Four people from Salyan, who had gone to India for employment, have died and three others of same place have been injured in a jeep accident. Four people from the same village in Kumakh Rural Municipality-4 of the district died in a pickup jeep accident in Kotkhai, Shimla district of Himachal Pradesh.

Four people from the same village in  Kumakh Malika Rural Municipality -4 of the district died in a pickup jeep accident in Kotkhai Shimla district in the Indian state of Himachal Pradesh.

Ward Chair of Kumakh-4 Shobhi Lal Basnet said that the deceased have been identified as 36-year-old Rajesh Bista, 48-year-old Dilli Shahi, 37-year-old Eakendra Shahi, and 26-year-old Laxmi Shahi.

According to him, the injured are 26-year-old Him Bahadur Shahi, 36-year-old Neb Bahadur Shahi, and 22-year-old Hemanta Shahi, all from the same village.

The accident occurred at around 9 AM on Sunday morning when a pickup jeep bearing the number HP 63-7897 fell into a cliff. They were on their way to work, an hour away from the village.

 Ward Chair Basnet said that the village is in mourning after the villagers, who had reached India for employment in July, lost their lives in the accident.

The three deceased, Dilli Shahi, Eakendra Shahi and Laxmi Shahi  are from the same family.

 According to initial investigations, the accident occurred when the driver lost control of the vehicle. 

Laxmi Shahi was taken to the hospital with serious injuries but died during treatment, according to the police.
