SSP-led patrol team of APF monitors border pillars in Hilsa and Lapcha regions

By Rajan Rawat,Humla, Sept. 16:Senior Superintendent of the Armed Police Force (APF) Binod Raj Shrestha, acting chief of APF Unit No. 6, Maheshwari Battalion, Surkhet, conducted an on-site patrol and inspection of border pillars in the Hilsa and Lapcha areas of Humla.

During his visit from Surkhet, Shrestha personally inspected six border pillars, spanning the northern region of Namkha Rural Municipality–5 in Hilsa and Namkha Rural Municipality–6 in Limi’s Lapcha area. 

According to Deputy Superintendent of Armed Police Force 44, Gulma Simkot, Kabindra Marhajan, the inspection over three days covered five pillars in Hilsa (numbered 6, 7, 8, 9, and 10) and one pillar in Lapcha. 

This marked the first time senior-level APF officials conducted direct inspections of border pillars in the region.

Senior Superintendent Shrestha expressed satisfaction with the condition of the Hilsa border pillars, noting that the APF has been carrying out annual inspections to ensure border integrity. Following the Hilsa inspection, the team proceeded to the 12th border pillar in Limi’s Lapcha area at an elevation of 5,045 metres, confirming its condition to be satisfactory.

The team also surveyed land designated for the APF Border Security Force in Hilsa, which is slated for upcoming building construction for Border Outposts (BOPs). Similarly, land in Takchi, Limir, has been evaluated for future BOP development, with further discussions planned with local ward and rural municipal authorities. The inspection team, led by Shrestha, completed the three-day assessment of the border pillars.
