Kathmandu, Sept 14: A total of 3,723 inmates, among the prisoners who escaped from different jails across the country due to the situation surfaced after Gen-Z protest on September 8 and 9, have been arrested.
Spokesperson of the Nepal Police Headquarters, Deputy Inspector General Binod Ghimire shared that 3,723 inmates have been brought to jails till today afternoon.
He also urged the general public to stay alert as 10,320 prisoners are still at large. Some of the prisoners have returned to jail themselves while Indian police also helped to arrest those prisoners who have tried to escape to India. The Nepali Army, Nepal Police and Armed Police Force have arrested them.
A campaign to search the fleeing inmates is underway, added DIG Ghimire, requesting all to inform police office or security bodies if they get information about the prisoners.
The inmates had escaped on September 9 due to vandalism, arson and demonstration following Gen-Z protest.(RSS)
