Newly appointed Prime Minister Karki sworn-in

By TRN Online, Kathmandu, Sept 12: President Ramchandra Paudel has administered the oath of office and secrecy to newly appointed Prime Minister Sushila Karki the Office of the President today.

As the patron of the constitution, President Paudel appointed Karki as Prime Minister of the interim government with a mandate to hold elections within six months.

Present in the swearing-in ceremony were Vice President Ram Sahaya Yadav, Chief Justice Prakash Kumar Raut, former Prime Ministers including Dr Baburam Bhattarai, high ranking government officers including secretaries, ambassadors of different countries to Nepali including Chinese ambassador to Nepal Chen Song.

Karki has become the first woman Prime Minister of Nepal. 

PM Karki was chosen for the post by the Gen Z groups which initiated the two-day movement on September 8 and 9 that forced the elected government to step down and pave the way for a new political situation.
