By Binay Karn, Kalayanpur (Saptari), Sept.11: Police have arrested 37 prisoners as of Thursday morning, among those who escaped on Wednesday after breaking the gate of the Saptari Prison Office.
Out of the 397 prisoners in the prison, 205 have escaped, and so far 42 escaped prisoners have been arrested from various places in the district.
“Five prisoners who escaped from Jhumka Prison have been arrested,” said Superintendent of Police at the District Police Office, Saptari, Gautam Kumar KC.
SP Gautam Kumar KC said that a search is underway for 168 prisoners who have escaped from the Saptari Prison Office located in Rajbiraj Municipality-6.
He said that the Kunauli and Sakhara borders, which are connected to the Indian state of Bihar, have been closed and the search operation has been intensified.
