Kathmandu, Sept. 11: The Nepal Police Headquarters issued a circular instructing all its security personnel and officers who had abandoned their posts to immediately come in contact.
On Tuesday, demonstrators set fire to more than a dozen government offices in the Kathmandu Valley. After the situation spiraled out of control, police personnel abandoned their offices, posts, circles, and weapons, retreating to safer locations.
In the circular, the Headquarters stated, “All police personnel assigned to police offices are hereby instructed to immediately report back and establish contact with their respective offices as per directives.”
Under the Kathmandu Valley Police Office, Ranipokhari, there are altogether 172 police units/ offices, including police circles in three districts of the Valley, where most of the police posts and about a dozen of police circles which are bigger than units or posts, have been set ablaze forcing them to leave their units, weapons and vehicles after the Gen-Z protest went out of control.
And across the country, there are a total of 2,660 police units, according to the Police HQ on Wednesday.
