Death toll reaches 25

Kathmandu, Sept.10: The death toll during Tuesday's demonstration that was staged in different parts of the country on September 8 and 9 has climbed to 25. 

Many youths were killed and dozens have sustained injuries in the country after demonstrations against political corruption and a government social media ban led to clashes between protesters and security forces, held on September 8 and 9. 

According to the Spokesperson of the Ministry of Health and Population (MoHP), Dr Prakash Budhathoki, 25 people, including security personnel, have been killed in the demonstrations that were held across the country on Monday and Tuesday. 

The highest recorded death cases have been on Trauma Centre, standing at 8, 6 died on Civil Hospital, three each died at Everest Hospital, and Frontline Hospital.

Two died in Kathmandu Medical College, Sinamangal, and B.P. Koirala Institute of Health Sciences (BPKIHS), while one died at the Tribhuvan University Teaching Hospital (TUTH). 

Of the 700 injured amid the protest, 413 have been discharged after treatment, while 197 are currently undergoing treatment at various hospitals across the country.

Of the 249 injured undergoing treatment at Civil Hospital, 15 have been operated on and nine will receive an operation. 

Likewise, 11 were operated in the National Trauma Center of the 71 receiving treatment.
