By Siraj Khan, Nepalgunj, Sept.10: Five juvenile inmates died in a clash with security personnel at the Naubasta Correctional Home in Naubasta Regional Jail located in Baijnath Rural Municipality-3 of Banke on Tuesday night.
According to the Naubasta Juvenile Correctional Home, five juvenile inmates were killed and four were seriously injured when police opened fire during a clash that broke out when inmates tried to take over the weapons of security personnel of the correctional home.
The office stated that around 80 juvenile prisoners managed to escape by breaking the security cordon, and that prisoners from the Naubasta Prison, located next to the juvenile correctional home, also escaped.
The deceased have been identified as Bhupendra Khatri of Dailekh, Samir Thapa of Banke, Umesh Bista of Achham, Jagat Deuba of Kailali, and Dinesh Gharti Magar of Dang. Their bodies have been kept at Bheri Hospital, Nepalgunj.
Five of the injured died during the course of treatment, according to the Naubasta Juvenile Correctional Home. The injured are undergoing treatment at Bheri Hospital.
The police also tried to control the child prisoners when they tried to escape. Those injured in the incident were brought to Bheri Hospital in Nepalgunj for treatment.
It has been stated that the system has been tightened and a search has also been launched for escaped juvenile prisoners and prisoners.
Head of the Naubasta Juvenile Correctional Home, Shyam Bahadur Rana, said that the situation at the correctional home is normal today.
