10th RPMUN National Conference to begin on Aug 14

By TRN Online, Kathmandu, Aug 12: The 10th reiteration of the Reliance Public Model United Nations National Conference is going to be held on 14-16 August in Kathmandu.

Continued since 2016 - this year- around two hundred students from 24 academic institutions from across the country have registered to participate in the conference to be held  at Reliance Public School, Kapan, Budhanilkantha Municipality-10.

In a press meet that was organized today at Reliance Public School, the conference director Dilip Nepal informed about the event and the five different simulated United Nations committees: Disarmament and International  Security Committee ( DISEC) , Social, Humanitarian and  Cultural Committee ( SOCHUM ), World Health Organization ( WHO ), United Nations Development Programme (UNDP),  United Nations Human Rights Council ( UNHRC) and the three different special committees : Historical Crisis , International Press Corps and Federal Parliament of Nepal.

Designed in eight different committees, the delegates are going to debate, negotiate, prepare their working papers and finally promulgate resolutions in the pressing global issues like that of the usage of Autonomous and AI-Enabled Weapons Systems under International Humanitarian Law, challenges Caused by Human Capital Flight , the fall of Constantinople, Ensuring Good Governance by Broadening Anti-Corruption Mechanisms, practicability of Xenotransplantation and the risk of new diseases, and the economic growth and social inclusion to accelerate efforts for the SDG agenda 2030.

Speaking at the press meet, the executive chairperson of Reliance Education Network Rabindra Jung Thapa clearly enunciated that the purpose behind organizing the annual conference is to hone students’ leadership, communication, research and diplomatic skills. He added, ‘the fundamental objective of the conference is to familiarize students with the global issues and explore the best practices to sort out that in a systematic and pragmatic way.’ enable students.

The BoD of Reliance Education Network and the principal of Reliance Public School  Basanta Lamichhane said with assurance, ‘the conference would be a milestone to the students in terms of their move to global citizenship.’

The conference that is going to happen in strategic partnership with the United Nations Nepal will be served as secretary general by Prashna Thapaliya.

The opening ceremony of the conference will be addressed as a keynote speaker and chief guest by Bishow B. Parajuli, the former UNRC/HC and UNDP Rep. Myanmar and Zimbabwe.
