By TRN Online, Kathmandu, Aug 5: Embassy of Bangladesh, Kathmandu has celebrated the “July Mass Uprising Day” on August 5 .
The celebration is organized on the occasion of remembering people’s revolt that took place 53 years ago in Bangladesh.
According to the press release of Embassy of Bangladesh, Kathmandu, the Minister of Communication and Information Technology Prithiv Subba Gurung was chief guest of the programme. He said that Bangladesh has full support of Nepal in its path of transition towards democracy.
He also said that there is a good partnership being build between the two countries in trade, investment, tourism, information and technology which is expected to become more consolidated.
Ambassador of Bangladesh to Nepal, Md. Shafiqur Rahman remembered the July Mass Uprising Day as event of freeing people from the rule of dictatorship and highly appreciated the sacrifice of Bangladesh's people during the uprising.
He also said there is a need of favor of all the stakeholders for the initiatives of the interim government of Bangladesh for building democratic and prosperous Bangladesh.
The message of President of Bangladesh Mohammed Shahabuddin and Chief Advisor Dr Muhammad Yunus was read at the event.
The day is observance of the mass uprising raised by students of Dhaka University and peasants against the government in the 17 of July 1972.
Secretary General of SAARC Ambassador Golam Sarwar expressed his good wishes for the government of Bangladesh and its people on this occasion.
