BY OUR CORRESPONDENT,Kathmandu, July 23: In an initiative led by students from the United States, Texas, Dallas, the international nonprofit Tutoring2Inspire has begun its mission to narrow Nepal’s educational divide by donating 100 computers to Junkiri School in Jhapa. Co- founded by Jay Panta and Sam Keon, two high school students from St. Mark’s School of Texas, the organisation aims to empower underserved schools in Nepal and beyond with digital resources and volunteer-led tutoring.

“This is just the beginning. We want to make sure every student, no matter where they live, has access to quality learning tools. Education is a human right and we plan to narrow this educational gap between the students by providing our services,” said Jay Panta.

The computer donation marks the organisation’s first project in Nepal, with plans to expand through a nationwide free tutoring programme that connects volunteers from both Nepal and abroad. The team is also preparing to collaborate with the Nepali government to scale its impact across other public schools.

“We will collaborate with the government of Nepal in our future projects and hopefully gain their support. Ambitious students should be given opportunities to fulfil their potential, and we are here to make that happen,” said Sam Keon.

Former Chief Election Commissioner Nilkantha Upreti praised the youth-led movement. “It’s truly inspiring to see young people leading with purpose. Their energy and clarity of vision can bring lasting change to our education system,” he said.

Also in attendance was Bishnu Subedi, Chairman of the Gorkhapatra Corporation. “These students have shown us what meaningful action looks like. Their work is commendable, and I warmly congratulate them for taking such an important step,” he said.

With initiatives like these, Tutoring2Inspire is planting the seeds for long-term educational equity powered by compassion, technology, and youth leadership.
