Tanahun, July 18: The Vyas Municipality in Tanahun district provided cash support to 243 pregnant women in the last fiscal year for nutritious foods to promote good health and ensure the safety of both newborns and mothers.
Chief Administrative Officer of the Vyas Municipality, Kashiram Gaire, stated a total of Rs 1.22 million was distributed among 243 pregnant women to reduce the maternal mortality rate (MMR).
Gaire added that each pregnant woman from an economically disadvantaged household received Rs 5,000 under the maternal nutrition programme. By giving the cash, the pregnant women were encouraged to avoid malnutrition and ensure a safe pregnancy.
The cash was given to the pregnant women after eight months of pregnancy, following the submission of health checkup documents from at least three visits to public health care institutions in the municipality. (RSS)
