Morang, June 24: The Manmohan Technical University has decided to produce ayurvedic medicines. The university located at Budhiganga rural municipality of Morang district is preparing itself for producing the medicine for the treatment of diabetes.
Vice Chancellor Dr Subashshree Pokharel conducted a press meet and shared information about it on Monday. He said the university was conducting a research on treatment process of diabetic patients with the use of medicinal herbs produced within country.
Now, the university is undertaking research on various 10 topics in the current academic session.
Diabetes treatment and bacteriophage are given top priorities among ten researches. There are several other issues being studied for ayurvedic treatment.
"The university has forwarded a plan to provide study on Grade 6 to 8 skill tests after the students pass the Grade to Grade 5 skill tests," he said, adding that there are 322 students at bachelor and master's levels programmes in various streams under the university.
Koshi Province government had established the technical university in 2076BS. The first technical university in the province, however, has complained of inadequate budget allocation from the province government.
According to Pokharel, only Rs 140 million budget was allocated to the Manmohan Technical University although the province government was demanded to provide Rs 37o million for the coming fiscal year. It was 0.5 percent of total budget in the province, which is worrying, he shared the plight. (RSS)
