NA passes Customs Bill

Kathmandu, June 9: The Customs Bill, 2080 BS, has been passed by the National Assembly (NA).     

Monday's meeting of the upper house of the Federal Parliament unanimously approved the bill. In the meeting, Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister Bishnu Prasad Paudel presented a proposal to consider the 'Customs Bill, 2080' received from the House of Representatives with a message.     

Responding to a question raised in the theoretical discussion on the proposal, Deputy Prime Minister Paudel expressed confidence that the bill would solve the problems in customs administration and revenue mobilisation.     

"The bill will contribute to preventing revenue leakages, making the customs system transparent and reliable and facilitating international trade," he said.     

Lawmakers Gopi Bahadur Sarki Achhami, Bhagawati Neupane, Dr Beduram Bhusal, Tulasa Kumari Dahal, Maya Prasad Sharma and Gopal Bhattarai took part in the discussions on the proposal.     

The Chairperson of the National Assembly, Narayan Prasad Dahal, stated that the lawmakers wishing to propose amendments to the bill can register their amendment proposals in the National Assembly's Bills Section.     

Earlier, the Chairperson of the Legislative Management Committee, Tulasa Kumari Dahal, presented the committee's report regarding the 'Constitutional Council (Functions, Duties, Rights, and Procedures) Amendment Bill, 2079.'     

During the meeting, the Secretary of the National Assembly, Dr Surendra Aryal, tabled the message received from the House of Representatives concerning the 'Water Resources Bill, 2081.' (RSS)
