338 soldiers from 24 countries graduate from Nepali Army's high altitude training

Mustang, June 9: Three hundred and thirty-eight army personnel from 24 countries, including Nepal, have so far graduated in 'High Altitude and Mountain Warfare' training at the Nepali Army High Altitude and Mountain Warfare School located in Kaisang, Gharapjhong Rural Municipality-5 in Mustang. 

The Nepali Army, Directorate of Public Relations in Kathmandu stated that basic and advanced training on high altitude and mountain warfare has been conducted every year in Mustang.

The Army Headquarters established a Military High Mountain School in Mustang in 2032 BS for the purpose of conducting high altitude and mountain warfare training.

With the completion of the 50th anniversary of its establishment, about 7,000 persons from various countries including Nepal have received basic training, and 2,500 have received advanced training related to high altitude and mountain warfare, according to spokesperson of the Directorate of Public Relations, Rajaram Basnet.

Among the trainees who have received advanced training from the Military High Altitude School in Mustang, 51 individuals have successfully climbed mountains higher than eight thousand meters.

Spokesperson Basnet said that among the trainees who have completed the high altitude and mountain warfare training course, 29 individuals have already climbed Mount Everest.

The trainees completing advanced training course from the School in Mustang are also trained for mountain climbing. (RSS)
