By A Staff ReporterKathmandu, June 9: Madhesi Ekta Samaj, Qatar Chapter organised a special function to exchange greetings on the occasion of Bakar Eid festival at Gorkhali Restaurant in Doha, Qatar, on Friday.
Former Deputy Prime Minister Rajendra Mahato was the chief guest of the programme chaired Madheshi Ekta Samaj Qatar Chapter chairman Shiva Kumar Mahato. Founding President of the Samaj, Dr. Rabindra Kumar Yadav, was the special guest.
On the occasion, Mahato said that Nepal should move forward by adopting a policy of a pluralistic nation and ensuring the proper participation of multi-ethnic, multilingual, and multi-religious communities.
Mahato also said that he found that Nepalis living abroad were more concerned about Nepal's development and prosperity. Similarly, Dr. Yadav said that the main objective of Madheshi Ekta Samaj was to preserve and promote their language and culture.
Dr. Yadav also said that Nepali organisations abroad should work with social responsibility, not as sister organisations of political parties.
Apart from Dr. Yadav, Samaj’s Vice Chair Rajiv Jha and Vice Chair and Middle East In-Charge Abhay Thakur were also present at the programme.
The programme started with lighting the lamp, singing the national anthem and paying tribute to the martyrs.
The programme was attended by senior officials of the Samaj, representatives of various organisations and distinguished personalities of the Nepali community.
