School Education Bill will be passed by June-end-Minister Pant

Kathmandu, June 7: Minister for Education, Science and Technology, Raghuji Pant has claimed that the ‘Bill for the Amendment and Integration of the Law Related to School Education-2080’ will be passed by the Federal Parliament (House of Representatives) by Asar 15 (June 29).     

In his address to the ‘Consultation Programme on Early Childhood Development’ organized here today by the Federal MPs' Coordination Group for Early Childhood Development, he shared ongoing arduous efforts to pass the bill within the stipulated date.     

The Minister further said, 'All legitimate demands of the teachers would be addressed through the education bill. Work is on progress accordingly.''     

He said that the ministry is effortful on adjusting the posts and merging community schools to address the demands of teachers in the bill.     

Pant further noted that past agreements reached between the government and teachers would also be included in the bill as much as possible.     

"We need to amend the law timely in a way to address the needs of the time", the minister added.     

 “On the day the agreement was signed with the teachers, I publicly stated that the nine-point agreement is cash, and will come to force from the upcoming month of Shrawan (17 July),” Education Minister Pant noted.     

He mentioned that the government will adopt appropriate, scientific, and financially viable suggestions for the country's education system reforms.     

“We must first remain clear how to include early childhood development within the education system and adopt policy for overall development of the children.”     

Amar Bahadur Thapa, chairperson of the House of Representatives, Education, Health and Information Committee, emphasized the need to improve education system based on priorities.     

Kusum Devi Thapa, chairperson of the Agriculture, Cooperatives and Natural Resources Committee, expressed the view that the government should also pay attention to other issues alongside the early development of children.     

Jeewan Pariyar, a member of the HoR, drew the attention of the education minister to the need for a separate law related to early childhood development for children's holistic development.(RSS)
