Govt media should be self reliant: Minister Gurung

By Sashidhar Parajuli, Biratnagar, June 6: The Spokesperson of the government and Minister for Communications and Information Technology, Prithvi Subba Gurung said that government media should become self reliant. 

While speaking after the monitoring and inspection of the Eastern Publication Office of Gorkhapatra Daily Minister Gurung said that there is need for government's media to enter into business competition with other media. 

Minister Gurung said," Government cannot incessantly put investment, the institution must grow its business capacity, there is a need to learn business and becoming self reliant". He said that there is need to enter into competition through PSP business model.

He added that the gorkhapatra sansthan easter office looked better than expected.

Secretary of the Ministry Radhika Aryal said it is a matter of pride to work in such an old and prestigious institution. She said there is a need for government's media to retain trust through its authenticity in the scenario where all have digital devise in their hand so its hard to distinguish between reporter and editor and where print media is facing trouble. 

Executive Chairperson of Gorkhapatra Sansthan Bishnu Prasad Subedi said that initiative of amendment in old acts have created new hope to a way towards opening of new vacancy in the institution. He also thanked Minister for his visit.

The executive committee member Lucky Chaudhary said gorkhapatra has been moving forward for competition according to a need of the time. It has been dissiminating trueworthy information around the world through digital portal along with its print.
