By Nisha Rai, Dharan, June 6: Minister for Communication and Information Technology Prithvi Subba Gurung has inspected the land and office building of the Radio Nepal located in Dharan Sub-metropolitan City.
Visiting the office building, which has remained dilapidated due to the lack of use, and the land amounting to some 18 bighas belonging to Radio Nepal here at the side of industrial estate at Dharan -8, Minister Gurung pointed at the need for preserving the building and utilizing the land.
Radio Nepal was operating from here for many years since 1991 covering the eastern region of the country, however, operation office was shifted later on to Biratnagar and this remained out of use, said Mahendra Bist, Chairman of the Public Broadcasting Service.
He said that a study was being conducted to run an FM radio from this building for the area.
On the occasion, people's representatives at the local levels urged the Communication Minister for arranging that the district traffic police office can rent the land to run its office because its present office building is too old to stay in.
