Kaski, June 2: Dhampus, a touristic village in Machhapuchhre Rural Municipality-7 of Kaski district is to be connected to the blacktopped road network.
The work for upgrading the 13-km road from Hemja Ghattekhola to Dhampus via Khanigaun along the Mid-Hill Highway has begun. The Gandaki Province government has started the road up-gradation under the Rural Connectivity Improvement Project (RCIP) at a cost of Rs 301.9 million
RCIP Project Pokhara chief Laxmi Bhandari informed that a contract was signed with the contractor company on last March to complete the road construction within the next two years.
The company has currently begun upgrading the road from Khanigaun.
Machapuchhre-7 ward chair Baikunth Prasad Bhandari said that all 10 settlements in Dhampus will be benefitted from the road upgrade.
He mentioned that now the road has connected the border of touristic village, Lwang, in Machapuchhre-8, and it will be easier to reach to the municipality center and Pokhara market via Lwang and Khorakumukh with completion of construction of two kilometers road from Lwang. (RSS)
