Elderly dies in house fire

By Navin Raj Kuinkel, Lamjung, May 28:An elderly woman died after a fire broke out in a room of a house in Buddhatole, Bhote Odar, and Sundarbazar Municipality 9, Lamjung district.

Information Officer and Police Inspector at the District Police Office, Lamjung, Rajkishore Shah Teli, said that Mithi Thapa, aged 70, who was living in a rented room, died of burns in a fire that broke out around 3:30 AM on Wednesday. 

Thapa, hailing from Dordi Rural Municipality- 1, had been living alone in a rented room. 

With the help of police and locals, the fire was brought under control by breaking down the door of the ablaze room.

According to police, she was immediately rescued and taken to the provincial hospital in Besisahar, but was declared dead on arrival by doctors. Her face and parts of her legs were chafed.

DSP Resham Bohara, Chief of the District Police Office, said that further investigation into the incident is underway.
