Kathmandu, May 25: Minister for Communication and Information Technology Prithvi Subba Gurung and Minister for Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation Badri Prasad Pandey have inaugurated the photo exhibition organized by the Rastriya Samachar Samiti (RSS), the National News Agency, on the occasion of Republic Day-2082.
The photo exhibition on the theme of 'Mountain Tourism: Our Pride, Our Identity' features 96 photographs depicting the Himalayan peaks, mountain life and major places of mountain tourism and major touristic activities. The photo exhibition has opened at the RSS central office located at Bhadrakali Plaza.
In order to draw the attention of the international community to the problems faced by mountainous countries like Nepal due to climate change, the exhibition featuring images of mountains, peaks, and tourist sites taken by the RSS reporters and photojournalists over various periods is included. This photo exhibition is organized to augment to the recently concluded 'Sagarmatha Sambaad' organized by the Government of Nepal.
It is believed that the exhibition will help add to RSS' diversity of its products and creative activities.
The National News Agency had organized a photo exhibition on the cultural diversity of the country last year and on physical infrastructure and development in the year before that to commemorate the Republic Day.
RSS believes that this photo exhibition will contribute to the debate and advocacy for the conservation of the mountains in the context of the international media's prioritizing the challenges posed to human civilization by climate change and its impact on mountain and highland life.
Earlier, RSS Executive Chairman Dharmendra Jha and General Manager Siddha Raj Rai welcomed the guests and provided information about the photos of the Himalayas displayed at the exhibition and the significance of the exhibition. The photo exhibition will run until June 13. (RSS)
