By Our Correspondent,Banepa, May 19: Nearly 100 irrigation projects have been completed in Kavrepalanchowk district in the current fiscal year.  According to the Water Resources and Irrigation Development Division Office, Kavrepalanchok, out of the projects implemented during the fiscal year 2024/25, 96 irrigation projects have been completed so far.

Engineer Binay Paudel, the head of the office, informed that a total of 157 irrigation projects and 47 river control projects were in progress in the current fiscal year.

Of these, 96 irrigation projects have already been completed. Similarly, all 47 river control projects planned for the current fiscal year have also been completed.

Paudel also stated that out of the remaining 61 projects, around a dozen could not be operated due to various disputes. However, about 50 projects currently under implementation are in their final stages.

Among the completed projects, 20 were multi-year projects, while the others were maintenance and repair projects. The office has set a target to complete all ongoing projects by mid-June.

"We are working with the goal of completing all projects by mid-June, as the monsoon season would hamper the construction work after mid-June," he said.

The repair and reconstruction of projects damaged by the landslides and floods last September was hampered due to the lack of budget allocation, he said.

There is likely to be increased pressure on the plans for the coming fiscal year.

According to the Division Office, the floods and landslides in September caused damages worth approximately Rs. 630 million across 115 irrigation projects and damages worth around Rs. 220 million across 37 river control projects in the district.
