Kathmandu, May 9: Chief Justice Prakashman Singh Raut has said the Supreme Court had witnessed a remarkable progress in adjudication of late. CJ Raut said it during a programme organized on the occasion of the 73rd Law Day-2082 today.
The number of cases pending for over five years will be reduced to zero by mid July 2026, while those pending for over eight years will be reduced to zero by coming mid July, according to him. "The old cases pending for long were being reduced in the last three years," he shared, claiming that the SC made achievement in finalizing any sort of cases within one-and-half year.
He vowed to make effective the adjudication with the enforcement of the fifth 5-year strategic plan, ensure citizen's access to justice, and promote public trust in judiciary and expand technology in judiciary.
According to him, the efforts relating to judicial reform were gaining pace. The workforce in judicial sector would be made more optimistic, he added.
"Today is observed as the Law Day that marks the practical enforcement of rule of law, independent judiciary, separation of power and checks and balances," he reminded, wishing all concerned the success in establishing rule of law.
The Law Day is observed every year on Baisakh 26, commemorating the day of the establishment of the Pradhan Nyayalaya, Chief Court on Baisakh 26, 2009.
