By Nabin Raj Kuinkel,Lamjung, May 9: After the arrangement of an agricultural ambulance, vegetables produced in villages have started being supplied to the district headquarters Besishahar.
With the arrangement of agricultural ambulance by the Besishahar Municipality to market farmers' products, it has become easier to bring green vegetables and fruits to the market.
The municipality has given the responsibility of operating an ambulance to the Ekata Agricultural Cooperative Society for vegetable collection.
The cooperative has been going to villages, collecting vegetables and bringing them to the market.
The cooperative has made a routing (timetable) for the collection of vegetables in the village, said Hari Bahadur Ghimire, chairman of Ekata Agricultural Cooperative Society.
He said that they have started bringing vegetables from the village to the 'farmer's house' on a regular basis.
As per the schedule, vegetables from Hatiya and Bhakunde of Besishahar Municipality-2 and in Nayagaun, Dhimire of Besishahar Municipality-1 will be collected on Sunday.
On Monday, vegetables from Chisapani in Besishahar-2, Puranokot in Ward No. 5, Nalma in Ward No. 4, Gaunshahar in Ward No. 3 and Ranikuwa will be collected.
Similarly, vegetables from farmers of Saldanda in Ward No. 10, Basnet Gaun, Syauta, Tilhar, Ramchokbesi in Ward No. 11, and Udipur in Ward No. 1 will be collected on Tuesday, according to the Cooperative.
The agricultural ambulance is scheduled to collect vegetables from Bimdabesi, Samdi, Dihithok, and Pakhathok in Ward No. 9 on Wednesday, Banthok in Ward No. 7 on Thursday, and Makaidanda, Saring, Bhalamshera, and Belauti Bisauna in Ward No. 6 on Thursday and bring them to the market.
Likewise, vegetables will be collected from Khasurbesi and Banjakhet in Ward No. 10 on Friday. The ambulance will reach essential places on Saturday to collect vegetables and supply to the market, said Ghimire.
Mayor of Besishahar Municipality Guman Singh Aryal said that after the operation of the agricultural ambulance, it has become easier to bring farmers' products to the market.
He said that the main problem of vegetables produced by farmers is marketing, and the municipality is working to resolve it.
Deputy Mayor of Besishahar Municipality Padma Gurung said that an agricultural ambulance has been provided to the Ekta Agricultural Cooperative for operation and management until mid-August, with the ownership remaining with the municipality.
The cooperative has been operating a 'Farmer's House' in Besishahar market to sell vegetables brought to the market by the agricultural ambulance.
