By A Staff Reporter,Kathmandu, May 7: Indian music label Eternal Sounds collaborated with Nepali musician Suman Thapa for a music project titled “Junkiri.”
The collection, featuring both Nepali and English songs, was officially released on Wednesday in Kathmandu.
“Junkiri” seeks to blend traditional Nepali folk instruments such as the Bansuri and Sarangi with Western songwriting and musical arrangements.
Among the highlights of the collection are “Mero Awaaz,” a deeply emotional song that explores the grief of losing a loved one, and “Valley of Sunshine,” which takes listeners through a fearless and philosophical conversation with death.
Eternal Sounds, known for its collaborations with legendary artists such as Hariharan, Subha Mudgal, Aruna Sairam, Rashid Khan, Sonu Nigam, Shaan, Kavita Seth, and Pt. Vishwamohan Bhatt continues to promote soulful music and emerging talents across borders.
Looking ahead, the label aims to embark on international collaborations with acclaimed global artists like John McLaughlin, Norah Jones, Ricky Kej, Anoushka Shankar, Greg Ellis, and Steve Smith. These upcoming projects are envisioned as potential Grammy-worthy entries from India and aim to leave a lasting impact on the global music scene.
With “Junkiri,” Eternal Sounds not only strengthens its presence in Nepal but also highlights the power of music as a bridge between cultures, emotions, and traditions.
