Kathmandu, May 8: Today is the World Remembrance and Reconciliation Day.
At the call of the United Nations,
it has been celebrated since 2004 as the day of reconciliation and remembrance
of those who lost their lives in the World War II.
Various UN agencies, NGOs and
individuals have been observing the Day by remembering and paying tribute to
their elders and all the victims of World War II.
The UN General Assembly had
declared 8–9 May as a time of remembrance and reconciliation.
A special commemorative meeting is
being held at the UN Headquarters in New York today. (RSS)
