By A Staff Reporter, Kathmandu, May 3: Anjila has marked the 51stday of its release in theatres.

According to director Milan Chams, the film, released on March 13 this year, has set a historic record in the biopic genre by grossing over Rs. 100 million.

“We have successfully reached the 51st day. Anjila has become the first Nepali biopic film in history to cross Rs. 100 million in revenue and to run for 51 days,” said Chams.

To celebrate this achievement, the film unit organised a special event on Friday.

Producer Prem Kumar Shrestha attributed the film’s success to the love and support of the audience. “We are excited to celebrate this success together with everyone,” said Shrestha.

Anjila is based on the life of Angila Tumbapo Subba, the captain of the Nepali national women’s football team, who has also played the lead role in the film.

The cast also includes Prem Kumar Shrestha, Sunil Thapa, Dayahang Rai, Bijay Baral, Sirjana Subba, Maotse Gurung, Sumin Gurung and Buddhi Tamang.

Although it was released toward the end of the Nepali New Year 2081 BS, Anjila managed to secure a spot among the top five films of the year.
