NAI Parijat award presented

By A Staff Reporter,Kathmandu, Apr. 25: With the aim of inspiring the younger generation in the diaspora through Nepali language and literature, NAI Academy, established in Australia, celebrated the 88th birth anniversary of Nepal’s legendary literary figure Parijat with a special literary and cultural programme in Sydney.

On the occasion, NAI Academy Australia honoured various creators from different fields.

At a ceremony held at the Guildford Community Hall, the NAI Parijat Award for literature was presented to Ram Prasad Koirala. The award included a certificate and a cash prize of 500 Dollar.

In the field of journalism, special honours were given to Niru Tripathi from Melbourne and Sita Rasaili from Sydney for their contributions to journalism in Australia.

Likewise, Nepali language and heritage-promoting young talents from the Shabdamala School in Australia were honoured with the NAI Youth Award.

 Five individuals aged 12 to 24 years were recognised with the NAI Year Australia Youth Award 2025, each receiving a certificate and a cash prize of 100 Dollar.

Awardees included Mokshada Amgain from Nepal for literature, Sandesh Paudel from Nepal for music, Gorima Rayamajhi from Melbourne and Simonne Sirpali from Sydney for dance and Mia Pun from Sydney for sports. 

The event was chaired by Seema Roshi, President of NAI Academy Australia. The chief guest, Indira Prasai, Chancellor of NAI Academy Nepal, delivered a special address virtually. 

She highlighted the role of NAI Academy in preserving Nepali art and culture in the diaspora, stating that without language and culture, a nation’s existence is at risk.

Donna Davis, Member of Parliament from the State of Parramatta, Australia, also extended her best wishes.

The event featured poetry recitations, dance performances, and Nepali songs and music, providing a delightful cultural experience.
