National Day of Pakistan celebrated

By TRN Online, Kathmandu, April 15: Embassy of Pakistan in Nepal hosted a reception to celebrate National Day of Pakistan today.

Vice-President Ramsahay Prasad Yadav, Deputy Speaker Indira Rana, former Prime Ministers Dr Baburam Bhattarai and Madhav Kumar Nepal,  Members of Parliament, Chiefs and representatives of diplomatic Missions in Nepal including Chinese Ambassador Chen Song and high ranking government officials attended the ceremony.

In his welcome speech, Ambassador of Pakistan to Nepal, Abrar H. Hashmi, viewed that Nepal-Pakistan relations date back to ancient times and that bilateral relations have been characterized with excellent cooperation since 1960 when the diplomatic relation was established between the two countries.


He said Pakistan stands with international community in fulfilling its international obligations.

Pakistan and Nepal have enjoyed cordial relations and developed strong bonds. He elaborated that Pakistan and Nepal share a unique tapestry from geography to civilizational linkages, from peaks of Himalayas to rich heritage, and cultural similarities unite the two peoples together. He hoped that building on existing agreements, mechanisms and collaboration in education, health, defense, climate change, disaster management will continue to bring synergies and closer ties in years ahead.

The Nepali Army band played tunes of national anthems at the reception, as well as few Pakistani songs captivating the audience.

A photo exhibition under the theme “A Glance at Pakistan” was also held showcasing diversity of Pakistan. 


The day is marked on March 23 to commemorate Pakistan Resolution in 1940, and adoption in 1956 of the Constitution of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan.  Due to Ramadan on March 23, the ceremony was held today.
