By A Staff Reporter,Kathmandu, Apr. 15: On the first day of the Nepali New Year 2082, Swonigha Resorts Pvt. Ltd. has taken an important step towards developing its land in Gundu, Suryabinayak Municipality, Bhaktapur, into a state-of-the-art five-star property.
It has laid the foundation stone for the construction of five-star hotel with the participation of local community leaders amidst a function on Monday.
According to a press statement of the company, the property will include a five-star hotel of an international brand, time share models villas, and of recreational centres under a new Nepali brand name: “Swonigha”.
“Swonigha” is a word of Newari origin that means Kathmandu Valley comprising of Kathmandu (Ya:), Lalitpur (Yala:) and Bhaktapur (Khwopa:).
The proposed site on lap of beautiful Himalaya range overseeing a hilltop full of dense forest in front that resembles “A Sleeping Buddha Sakyamuni” with bird’s eye view of three ancient cities of Ya:, Yala: and Khwopa:.
This ambitious project will become a destination for national and international enthusiasts of Nepali culture, heritage, music, hospitality as well for nature lovers.
This destination will aim to promote Nepali and local heritage while uplifting the local community.
This project will be developed as a luxury tourist destination for Nepali and international guests and a perfect wellness centre with emphasis on quality and healthy lifestyle, read the press statement.
The project is being undertaken by Implementing Experts Group (IEG) in joint venture with S&JG Holdings (Australia).
This project, with an estimated investment of over Rs. 4.75 billion will comprise of an international branded five-star hotel with 60 villa resorts in time share model, is expected to be completed by November, 2027.
The property shall have distinct focus on creating a new destination for MICE events (Meeting, Incentive, Conference, Exhibition), international seminar, destination wedding hub, music centre, amphitheater (live demonstration of art, culture and music), Yoga, meditation and spiritual as well as sport activities (rock climbing, hiking, biking) culminating into the ultimate destination for food & beverage, wellness & recreational activities.
