Kathmandu, April 14: Speaker Devraj Ghimire has expressed hope that the Nepali New Year 2082 BS will be significant in promoting entrepreneurship, enhancing employment opportunities, and improving the health and education sectors.
In his New Year message, the
Speaker said he hopes 2082 BS would inspire progress toward national stability,
development, prosperity, and social justice.
"We have embraced the
institutional practice of a federal democratic republic, inclusion, social
justice, and the peace process—achievements made possible through long
struggles and sacrifices by the people," he said. "It is now our
historic responsibility to safeguard and further strengthen these
accomplishments."
He stated that Nepal, a nation rich
in cultural diversity and history, has already entered a phase of new
exploration and development. Strengthening the foundations of physical,
economic, and social progress, along with good governance, is crucial for the
journey ahead, he added.
"I hope the New Year becomes a
source of inspiration for promoting mutual goodwill, national unity, and faith
in democratic norms and values, ultimately contributing to the nation's
prosperity," he concluded.
NA Chair hopes for accelerating
law-making process in 2082 BS
Meanwhile, National Assembly (NA)
Chairperson Narayan Prasad Dahal also extended his best wishes for the New
Year, expressing hope for the acceleration of legislative processes in 2082
BS.
In his message, Dahal highlighted
the need making the 2080's as the decade of prosperity and development for
Nepal. "The Federal Parliament has played its roles as the lawmaking body,
as the watchdog of government performance, and an amplifier of the voices of
citizens. However, we have yet to pass several essential laws mandated by the
Constitution nearly a decade after its promulgation."
He warned that delays in enacting
such legislation could hinder public service delivery and increase citizen
frustration. "Political parties must prioritize addressing the people's
needs and aspirations over narrow self-interests."
Dahal also expressed concern over
recent anti-republic demonstrations. "A strengthened republic is the only
viable alternative to the existing system, and it is our collective duty to
raise awareness about its importance," he stated. (RSS)
