Hong Kong T20I Series: Nepal set final clash with Kuwait

By A Staff Reporter,Kathmandu, Apr. 13: Nepal and Kuwait are set to clash in the final of the Hong Kong Men’s Quadrangular T20I Series 2025.

Nepal shared points with hosts Hong Kong after their match was abandoned due to rain at Mong Kok on Saturday. 

Nepal topped the league table with five points, securing their berth in the final. They registered two wins and one no-result in their three group matches. 

Earlier in the series, Nepal defeated Qatar in their opening match and Kuwait in their second encounter.

In the first match of the day, Kuwait defeated Qatar to earn four points and booked their spot in the final. Kuwait claimed second place with two wins and one loss.

Hong Kong finished third on the table with three points from one win, one loss, and one no-result. Qatar remained winless and ended at the bottom of the standings.

Nepal aimed for a third victory against the hosts Hong Kong on Saturday. However, rain played spoilsport and forced both teams to share points.

Hong Kong won the toss and chose to bat first. They posted 68 runs for the loss of 3 wickets in 9 overs before rain interrupted play. Although the rain stopped and covers were removed, poor lighting delayed the game. Rain returned, making further play impossible.

Babar Hayat (1) and Kalhan Challu (1) were at the crease when the rain interrupted the match. 

Hong Kong lost the wickets of Zeeshan Ali (30), Anshuman Rath (17) and Nizakat Khan (13) were out in 8.3 overs with 67 runs on the board. 

Lalit Rajbanshi picked two wickets and Nandan Yadav claimed one wicket for Nepal. The final is scheduled for April 13.
