Lumbini, April 11: The Lumbini Province has implemented a five-year mental health and psychosocial strategic action plan. It is being implemented in collaboration with local levels and health development partner organizations under the leadership of the provincial government.
Lumbini Province Health Minister
Khem Bahadur Saru shared that making mental health services effective has been
prioritized. "Mental health problems have been seen in all age groups,” he
said, “We have expanded the mobile nursing service to strengthen mental and
social health. We have focused on mobilizing psychosocial counselors, reducing
child marriage and making reproductive health services effective.”
Lumbini Provincial Health
Directorate Director Roshanlal Chaudhary emphasized that mental health services
should be accessible and health workers should be efficient in service
delivery.
Various programs will be
implemented under the five-year mental health and psychosocial strategy
developed under the leadership of the Lumbini Provincial Government with the
technical assistance of CMC-Nepal.
Himal Gaire, Head of Policy,
Strategy and Good Governance of CMC-Nepal, shared that necessary services will
be provided at health centers by expanding access to mental health services. (RSS)
