By Our Correspondent,Waling, Apr. 4: Minister for Communication and Information Technology Prithvi Subba Gurung unveiled the

Golden Jubilee Memorial during the golden jubilee ceremony of Saraswoti Secondary School in Syangja on Thursday.

On the occasion, Minister Gurung also performed worship at the Saraswati Temple built on the school premises.

Speaking on the occasion, Minister Gurung said, “Nepal has already entered a new era of the republic. There is no possibility of turning back.”

He further clarified that the monarchy in Nepal effectively ended with the Royal Palace Massacre. “The monarchy came to an end with the Royal Palace Massacre; the political parties merely upheld it with respect for some time,” he stated.

Minister Gurung also made it clear that those engaging in anarchic demonstrations on March 28 would face legal action.

He emphasised that the former king had been treated with due respect but warned that if such incidents continued, the government would be compelled to revoke that respect.

Additionally, Minister Gurung, who is also the former Chief Minister of Gandaki Province, highlighted the government’s substantial investment in public schools. He stressed that schools, teachers, and parents must focus on improving the quality of education.  The school is located in Waling Municipality-13.

Established in 1975, the school is considered one of the model schools of the district. According to Headmaster Yam Bahadur Kunwar, over 2,000 students from the school have already appeared in SLC examinations..

Declaring the school as a technology-friendly residential school, the management has put forth various plans to upgrade the school. The school has also planned to begin a campaign to purchase additional land.

On different dates, the school had accepted 13 ropanis of land as donations. There are five separate buildings of the school, constructed with the help of various donors.
