Deal signed on community development

BY A STAFF REPORTER,Kathmandu, Apr. 3: The Ministry of Federal Affairs and General Administration, Indian Embassy and Project Implementing Agencies in Nepal signed a contract on Tuesday to undertake 10 High Impact Community Development Projects (HICDPs) in education, health and culture sectors.

According to a press statement issued by the Indian Embassy, these projects will be implemented under the Indian government’s grant assistance, with a total investment of Rs. 625 million. 

The projects include the construction of Sanba Secondary School in Mikuwa Khola Rural Municipality, Taplejung and Ngagyur Nyngma Palyul Dhongag Chholing Monastery in Likhu-Pike Rural Municipality, Solukhumbu. 

As per the contract, the Nepal-Bharat Maitri E-Library at Shree Rastriya Primary School in Bharatpur Metropolitan City, Chitwan and health post buildings in Wards 3 and 6 of Indrawati Rural Municipality, Sindhupalchowk, will also be built with the grant.

Additionally, the agreement includes the construction of Ninyukharka Secondary School in Dhurkot Rural Municipality, Gulmi, Naya Gaun Secondary School in Butwal Sub-Metropolitan City, Rupandehi, Nepal-Bharat Maitri Hospital Building in Chankheli Rural Municipality, Humla, Siddhanath Secondary School in Dhangadhi Sub-Metropolitan City, Kailali and the administrative and hostel buildings of Shree Satyavadi Secondary School in Jayaprithivi Municipality, Bajhang.

Since 2003, India has undertaken over 573 HICDPs in Nepal, including these 10 projects and has successfully completed 495 projects across all seven provinces. 

These initiatives span various sectors, including education, health, road and bridge construction, river training, drinking water, electrification, irrigation, culture, social welfare and public infrastructure development.
