By A Staff Reporter,Kathmandu, Apr. 3: The Kathmandu District Court has extended the remand order against all individuals arrested on charges of violent protests during the pro-monarchy movement at Tinkune, Kathmandu, for six days.
The detainees, who are at the Kathmandu District Police Office, were presented before the Kathmandu District Court on Wednesday, seeking an extension of their remand. According to the court, their custody was extended for six days for further investigation.
Out of 41 arrested individuals, 30 were initially charged with criminal offences and organised crime, while 11 were accused of offences against the state. Their remand was first extended by five days on Sunday.
They were arrested by the police on Friday, and as their initial five-day custody period ended on Tuesday, they were taken to the court for the extension of remand order on Wednesday, said Superintendent of Police Apil Raj Bohora of the Kathmandu District Police Range.
Among those whose remand has been extended are Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) senior vice president Rabindra Mishra, Member of Parliament and RPP General Secretary Dhawal Shumsher Rana.
Additionally, 20 more persons were arrested on Tuesday, and their remand has also been extended.
