By A Staff Reporter,Kathmandu, Apr. 3: Nepal and Thailand signed a total of nine agreements, including memorandums of understanding (MoUs), on Wednesday during Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli’s official visit to Thailand.
According to the Prime Minister’s Secretariat, the MoUs were signed in the presence of the Prime Ministers of both countries.
The government of Thailand stated that the agreements and MoUs covered eight different areas, including an MoU on tourism cooperation between the governments of Nepal and Thailand, a cultural agreement between the two countries, an MoU between the Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FNCCI) and the Board of Trade (BoT) of Thailand, and an MoU between the Confederation of Nepalese Industries (CNI) and the Federation of Thai Industries (FTI).
Additionally, an MoU was signed between the Nepal Chamber of Commerce (NCC) and the Tourism Council of Thailand, another between Nepal Netra Jyoti Sangh (NNJS) and the Faculty of Medicine at Ramathibodi Hospital, Mahidol University, an MoU between Janata Agro and Forestry Ltd., Nepal and Kasetsart University, Thailand, and a Letter of Agreement between Kathmandu University and Siam University.
The MoU on tourism cooperation was signed by Nepal’s Minister for Foreign Affairs, Dr. Arzu Rana Deuba, and Thailand’s Minister of Tourism and Sports, Sorawong Thienthong.
The cultural agreement was signed by Minister Dr. Deuba and Thailand’s Minister of Culture, Sudawan Wangsuphakijkosol. The MoU between FNCCI and BoT, Thailand, was signed by FNCCI President Chandra Prasad Dhakal and BoT Chairman Sanan Angubolkul.
Similarly, the MoU between CNI, Nepal, and FTI, Thailand, was signed by CNI President Rajesh Kumar Agrawal and FTI’s Kriengkrai Thiennukul, while the MoU between NCC and the Tourism Council of Thailand was signed by NCC President Kamlesh Kumar Agrawal and the council’s President, Chai Arunanondchai.
Likewise, the MoU between NNJS and Ramathibodi Hospital, Mahidol University, was signed by NNJS Chairman Chet Raj Panta and Clinical Professor Artit Ungkanont.
The MoU between Janata Agro and Forestry Ltd., Nepal, and Kasetsart University was signed by Chairman Pawan Golyan, while the Letter of Agreement between Kathmandu University and Siam University was signed by KU Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Achyut Prasad Wagle and SU President Dr. Pornchai Mongkhonvanit.
Prime Minister Oli is in on a five-day official visit to Thailand from Tuesday.
