By Our Correspondent,Dadeldhura, Mar. 6: The two-day Parashuram Literature Festival is all set to begin at the renowned Parashuram Dham from Thursday.
Organised by Suina Suduraka, the festival will be held under the slogan ‘Sanskar, Sankalp, and Samriddhi’ (Culture, Commitment, and Prosperity).
Parashuram Municipality is hosting the second edition of the festival.
According to Bharat Badair Joshi, the mayor of Parashuram Municipality, the festival will be inaugurated by Home Minister Ramesh Lekhak on Thursday.
The literary festival, scheduled for March 6 to 7, will be held on the banks of the Kali River, near the Nepal-India border at Parashuram Dham.
The festival will feature discussions on various topics, including art, literature, music and sports, said Joshi.
Initiated last year, the festival aims to preserve and promote the arts and cultural heritage of Dadeldhura, with sessions involving distinguished personalities.
The festival is being organised to preserve literature, music, culture, language, and civilisation while also promoting Parashuram Dham, a sacred Hindu pilgrimage site.
According to ancient texts like the Skanda Purana and local folklore, Parashuram Municipality holds a rich historical legacy.
Across the border, Purnagiri in India, is a well-known religious tourism site that attracts more than 5 million pilgrims annually. However, Parashuram Dham, despite its greater religious significance, has remained overshadowed due to a lack of promotion, Joshi added.
Hence, the municipality aims to develop cultural tourism through the literary festival, ensuring the preservation of local cultural values, social harmony, and historical heritage alongside physical infrastructure development.
The second edition of the festival will include sessions on topics such as Cultural Education’, ‘Youth in the Digital Era: Opportunities and Challenges’, ‘Ghajal Evening’, ‘Suina of Sudur’, ‘Poetry and Storytelling’, ‘Poetic Evening’, ‘The World of Sports’, ‘Economy, Tourism, and Diplomacy and more.
These sessions will feature participation from national, provincial and local poets, writers, journalists, and cultural scholars, informed the organisers.
