By A Staff Reporter,Kathmandu, Mar. 4: Tourist arrival has declined slightly in the month of February this year.
According to Nepal Tourism Board, a total of 96,880 tourists visited Nepal in the month of February, second month of 2025.
This is 0.56 per cent lower than the tourist arrival during the same month of last year 2024.
A total of 97,426 tourists arrived in Nepal in the month of February 2024. Tourist arrival was only 94.60 per cent in the month of February compared to 2019. A total of 102,423 tourists visited Nepal in the month of February in 2019.
Top 10 tourist generating markets
The highest number of tourists arrived in Nepal from India in the month of February. A total of 19,187 tourists have come from India while 10,348 tourists from the United States of America and 8,232 tourists from China have visited Nepal, according to the NTB.
The number of tourists from India has decreased by 25 per cent during the month of February as compared to same month of 2024. A total of 25,587 tourists visited Nepal in the month of February 2024.
Similarly, 5,609 tourists from Thailand, 5,057 tourists from United Kingdom, 4,874 tourists from Bangladesh, and 4,370 people from Sri-Lanka visited the country.
A total of 3,737 people from Australia, 3,149 people from Myanmar and 2,779 tourists from South Korea have come to Nepal in the month of February this year.
The share of India in the total tourist arrival in the month of February is 19.8 per cent while the share of the USA is 10.7 per cent, China’s 8.5 per cent and Thailand’s 5.8 per cent.
Similarly, the share of United Kingdom in the total tourist arrival in the month of February is 5.2 per cent, Sri-Lanka's 4.51 per cent, Australia's 3.86 per cent, Myanmar's 3.25 per cent and South Korea's 2.87 per cent.
Of the total tourist arrivals, share of tourists from Asia (SAARC) stood at 31 per cent, Asia (others) at 29 per cent, Europe at 16.5 per cent, Americas at 13 per cent, Oceania at 4.1 per cent, Middle East 0.9 per cent, Africa 0.3 per cent and others at 5.1 per cent in the review month.
