By Lilaraj Khadka,Birtamod, Apr. 28: The Armed Police Force (APF) Football Club clinched the Chandragadhi Women’s Gold Cup in Bhadrapur, Jhapa.
In Monday’s final, APF edged fellow departmental side Tribhuvan Army Football Club 1–0 to lift the trophy. Rashmi Kumari Ghising netted the decisive strike in the 72nd minute, rising unmarked to head home skipper Anita Basnet’s cross inside the box.
APF, who dominated possession and carved out several chances, failed to add to their tally but held firm at the back to keep Army’s forwards at bay. Along with the title, APF pocketed Rs 1.1 million, while runners‑up Army settled for Rs 500,000.
Saru Limbu was named player of the match and received Rs 11,000. APF’s Renuka Nagarkoti was adjudged best player of the tournament, earning Rs 101,000. Other individual honours went to Anjana Rana Magar (best goalkeeper, APF), Gita Rana (best defender, APF), Deepa Shahi (best midfielder, Army), Rashmi Kumari Ghising (highest scorer, APF) and Shabnam Rai (rising player, Chandragadhi Youth Club), each awarded Rs 25,000.
The tournament featured Tribhuvan Army Football Club, RS Pokhara Football Club, Thimphu City Club of Bhutan, Church Boys United, Nepal Police Football Club, Chandragadhi Youth Club, Rani Laxmibai Sports Academy of India, APF Club, Sankata Football Club and Padma Sports Club of Okhaldhunga.
