Kathmandu, April 27: Vishmaraj Angdembey has been unanimously elected as the parliamentary leader of the Nepali Congress.

A meeting of the NC parliamentary party held today at Singha Durbar decided to elect him as its leader, endorsing the nomination made earlier today by the NC Central Works Execution Committee meeting.

NC Joint General Secretary and Election Committee coordinator Prakash Rasaili Snehi confirmed the decision to pick Aangdembe as the NC parliamentary party leader. The Central said that the Central Work Execution Committee agreed to forward his name, entertaining a proposal towards that end put forth by party President Gagan Kumar Thapa.

Aangdembe, a proportional representation (PR) member of the House of Representatives, was selected for the role accordingly.

Earlier, a three-member committee coordinated by party Vice President Bishwa Prakash Sharma was formed after three candidates staked claims for the parliamentary leadership. Aangdembe’s name was recommended following deliberations by the committee, which also included the party’s two general secretaries.

The NC has elected its parliamentary party leader unanimously for the first time since 2064 BS. (RSS)
