By A Staff Reporter,Kathmandu, Mar. 3: Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has said that the government is committed to providing all possible support for the holistic development of youth.

Addressing the 19th Senior Division Pass-out Parade of the National Cadet Corps (NCC) held at the Army Pavilion, Tundikhel, on Sunday, Prime Minister Oli emphasised the importance of disciplined youth who uphold the national flag bearing the symbols of sun and moon. He said that the nation requires such youth, making such programmes a high priority for the Nepali government.

"You are not just the hope and dream of your parents; your professors, relatives, and society also have aspirations attached to you," the Prime Minister said.

The PM reiterated that NCC's programme is the government's high priority as the nation is always in need of youths, who are disciplined, have allegiance to the national flag by internalizing the maxim 'Janani Janmabhumishcha Swargadapi Gariyasi' or 'Motherland is Greater than Heaven.'

"Therefore, to build an excellent society, young people must enhance their morale, develop leadership skills, uphold moral conduct and discipline, understand their duties towards society and the nation, and work towards becoming capable citizens," said PM Oli.

As the chief patron of the National Cadet Corps, Prime Minister Oli stressed that youth should dedicate themselves to selfless service when the nation requires them, fulfilling their roles as true Nepali citizens and responsible leaders.

He extended his best wishes to the cades who graduated and encouraged them to contribute to national development through fair competition rather than by obstructing others.

The event was attended by PM Oli’s spouse Radhika Shakya, Co-Patron of NCC and Defence Minister Manbir Rai, Vice-Chairperson of the National Planning Commission Prof. Dr. Shivaraj Adhikari, Chief of the Army Staff Ashok Raj Sigdel, Deputy Mayor of Kathmandu Metropolitan City Sunita Dangol, heads of security agencies and other dignitaries.

Additionally, NCC contingents from India and the Maldives, along with Bhutan Scouts, participated in the event.

The National Cadet Corps, established in 1965 with the motto "Discipline is the foundation of national service," aims to shape disciplined, respectful, and nation-devoted citizens. It also provides trained volunteer manpower capable of being mobilised in times of crisis.

For the current fiscal year, the NCC passed out 7,704 cadets including both boys and girls, with a target to increase this number to 11,550 in the coming fiscal. As of today, a total of 82,184 cadets have graduated from the programme.

Prime Minister and Patron of NCC, Oli, presented insignia on graduate youth, prizes and letters of appreciation. On the occasion, the graduated youths showcased their march pass and cultural performances.
